About
Market Center's status as a thriving, bustling shopping district is nothing new - it's Baltimore's oldest, most established commercial center, harkening back to the days when Baltimore was an urban center in transition was moving from a city centered on harbor-based businesses to a downtown manufacturing hub.
Much of Market center - which includes the 27-block area around Lexington Market bounded by Franklin Street on the north, Baltimore Street on the south, Liberty Street on the east and Paca Street on the West - is undergoing yet another renaissance.
The Westside Revitalization project will breathe new life into this historical enclave and create an urban residential district linking University of Maryland Baltimore campus to Charm City's central business district and the Inner Harbor, the jewel of a previously successful rebirth.
The world-famous Lexington Market and the reborn Hippodrome Theatre are among the longstanding area landmarks bursting with new life. And Market Center remains an exciting place to call home, featuring the many amenities that make city living great.
Market Center remains a focal point of business activity in the community. The Market Center Board of Directors represents approximately 400 Westside merchants and meets on a monthly basis to discuss issues significant to its membership. The group also markets Market Center to a broader audience, addresses community concerns and serves as a liaison with city agencies.
The luxurious, new residential units and beautifully restored historical buildings speak to Market Center's past. But we've been here since the beginning, and remain focused and committed to making sure our community is deeply rooted for a successful present and prosperous future!
